Most parents start thinking about admissions when forms appear. By then, many schools in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and other cities have already held their first rounds. This timeline shows how a typical private-school admission season runs in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, so you can plan early.
October to November: research and shortlist
- List the schools within a comfortable commute. A daily journey under 30 minutes is easier for young children.
- Decide on the board you prefer (CBSE, ICSE, State board, IB or Cambridge). Our board comparison can help.
- Check each school's website, Google reviews and, for CBSE schools, its affiliation number.
- Browse schools by area in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh directories.
November to January: visits and applications
Many private schools open applications for the next academic year in this window, especially for entry classes such as nursery, LKG and Class 1. Popular schools may close entry-class admissions early.
- Visit 2 to 4 campuses during working hours. Use our campus visit checklist.
- Ask for the complete fee structure in writing.
- Keep your documents ready (see our documents checklist).
January to March: interactions, offers and fee payment
Schools may hold an interaction with the child or parents, then issue offers. You will usually need to pay a registration or admission fee to confirm the seat. Ask about the refund policy before you pay.
March to May: results, transfers and higher classes
Admissions for higher classes often depend on final exam results and the transfer certificate from the current school. For Class 11 (junior college), many decisions follow the Class 10 board results.
June: the new academic year
In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, schools usually reopen in the middle of June. Some schools still have seats in May and June, especially in higher classes.
A note on dates
Every school sets its own schedule, so these months are a general guide, not a rule. Confirm dates with each school directly.
This guide is general information for parents. Rules, dates and fees change, so always confirm with the school or the official source mentioned.
