Schools in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ask for similar documents, though each school has its own list. Keep these ready before you apply, with photocopies and scanned copies on your phone.
Documents most schools ask for
- Child's birth certificate, issued by the municipal corporation or local body.
- Aadhaar card of the child and the parents.
- Passport-size photographs of the child, and often of both parents.
- Address proof, such as Aadhaar, a utility bill or a rental agreement.
For Class 2 and above
- Previous report card or progress report.
- Transfer certificate (TC) from the previous school. See our guide to getting a transfer certificate.
- For students joining Class 11 after Class 10 on a different board, the school may ask for a migration certificate.
Sometimes asked for
- Immunisation record or a medical fitness certificate.
- Caste or income certificate, only where a reserved quota applies.
- Proof of sibling studying in the same school, if the school gives sibling preference.
Tips
- Check that the child's name and date of birth are spelled the same way on every document. Mismatches cause delays.
- Apply for a birth certificate correction early if needed; it can take weeks.
- Ask the school for its document list in writing when you collect the form.
