The most common board question for parents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is CBSE or State board. Both can give a child an excellent education; the right choice depends on your plans.
Who runs each board
- CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is a national board. Its Class 10 and 12 exams are the same across India.
- Telangana State board: the Board of Secondary Education, Telangana conducts the Class 10 (SSC) exam, and the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education conducts the intermediate (Class 11 and 12) exams.
- Andhra Pradesh State board: the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh conducts SSC, and the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh conducts intermediate exams.
When CBSE may suit you better
- You may move to another state, since CBSE schools are found across India.
- Your child is aiming for national entrance exams, which closely follow the NCERT syllabus used by CBSE.
When the State board may suit you better
- You plan to stay in the state, and your child will take state entrance exams and junior college (intermediate) here.
- You prefer a school close to home, since there are many State board schools in every area.
Questions that matter more than the board
- How good is the teaching in this particular school?
- Does the school run up to Class 12, or will you need to move?
- Is the school's affiliation or recognition valid? For CBSE, check the affiliation number.
